Want to become a Foreign Exchange Student at Taft Charter High School? Taft Charter High School (also known as "TCHS")  is located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley in the city of Woodland Hills, California.  Woodland Hills is a very beautiful area with the Westfield Mall located only a few minutes from Taft, as well as Promenade 16 Theaters and Malibu Beach and Venice Beach about 25 minutes from Woodland Hills. Taft is part of LA Unified School District with about 150 public High School in Los Angeles County. Taft Charter High School provides all students opportunities to develop their individual passions and talents through innovative instructional programs that challenges them academically and creatively. Taft Charter High School Vision is a diverse learning community that prepares students to take on the challenges of a global society through academic achievement, personal growth, and social responsibility. Los Angeles is the largest multicultural school district in California. Besides English, you will be exposed to many other languages at school. The level of academics standards at LA Unified offers many AP courses as well as ESL for those students with a lower level of English. Although Taft offers ESL in the English language, students are still required to take regular courses in History, Science, Math and electives.

A Sampling of Courses Offered: Exchange Students can take regular high school courses such as: English 9, 10, 11, 12, American Government, World History, US History, Algebra, Math Analysis, Geometry, Probability & Statistics, Statistics, Calculus, Algebra II & Trigonometry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Physiology, Computer Applications, Computer Science, Sociology, Ethnics, Logistics & Critical Thinking, Law & Order, Spanish 1, 2, French 1, 2

AP Classes: Exchange Students who qualify will be eligible to take Advanced Places courses, and receive college credit in subjects like:  English Language, Government & Politics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Computer Science, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish Language, Physics, Calculus, Statistics, US History, World History, Economics,  plus many more dependent on the specific high school in LAUSD.


Honors Classes: Exchange students often take honors courses and TCHS offers 12 Honors Courses which include: Math Analysis, Algebra 2, Geometry, Calculus, World History, US History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English 9 &10, American Literature

Athletics & Extra-Curricular Activities:

Athletics: Foreign Exchange Students may try out to be part of the team for many sports TCHS offers: Swimming, Water polo, Cross Country, Track, Basketball, Football, Softball, Soccer, Softball, Golf, Wrestling, Volleyball, Tennis, Lacrosse

Taft Charter High School has always had a rich athletic tradition dating back to its early years. The school has produced countless Olympic, Hall Of Fame, Professional and Collegiate athletes in its history. The school has won and appeared in multiple CIF Championships in its history in a number of sports. Toreadors have won titles in Football, Basketball, Track & Field, Cross Country, Volleyball, Tennis and Gymnastics. It also offers award winning Dance, Band and Cheerleading teams.


Arts:  Are you an Exchange Student that plays an instrument, sings, enjoys dance or enjoys drama? If so, this is the high school for you!  Computer Arts, Orchestra, Video/Film Production, Chorus, Band, Ceramics, Dance, Photography, Drawing/Painting, Theatre/Drama
