Be a Foreign Exchange Student at Saint John's High School! Saint John's is a co-educational Catholic high school located in the waterfront town of West Islip, New York and is just minutes from Long Island ocean beaches and only an hour train ride to New York City. The high school features five floors, the first three floors hold all of the classrooms, the fourth floor houses a conference center. St. John's also has a dance studio, large library, newly renovated lecture hall, new athletic stadium bleachers and Saint John's school contains a newly renovated gymnasium cafeteria, and a 1300-seat auditorium. In addition to regular academic classes, three levels of classes are offered at St. Johns. Honors, Advanced Placement and regents courses. Also, College credit courses are offered through St. John's affiliates such as St. John's University (40 credits), Molloy College (10 credits) and Adelphi University (3 credits). Students placed in the SJB College extension program can work to earn 30 college credits (one year of college) before graduating from St. John’s.

Saint John's offer Smart Boards in every classroom keeping pace with the latest movement in education technology. Smart Boards offer a fully interactive approach to learning by allowing both the teacher and students to write, present and research, they offer the ability of visual expression in real time during class. Saint John's Smart Board classrooms have audio, video, internet and touch screen capabilities for a multi-media, multi-engaging learning experience.
Saint John's has 4 levels of acceptance: Direct Entry Level, Support Level 1, Support Level 2 and Support Level 3.
Direct Entry: IELTS 7.0 or above, TOEFL IBT 88 or above, SLATE 6.5 or above. With Direct Entry students do not take additional Language Foundation Classes and have the same class schedule as American Students.
Support Level 1: IELTS 6.0-6.5, TOEFL IBT 79-87, SLATE 5.0-6.0. This level of support provides advanced students the opportunity to further refine their mastery of English with classes correlated to other Saint John's classes specifically writing, reading, vocabulary and critical thinking. Class includes: Academic Fluency- Advance
Support Level 2: IELTS 5.0-5.5, TOEFL IBT 59-78, SLATE 4.5-5.4. This level of support provides intermediate students the opportunity to upgrade their English to an advanced level focusing on academics skills in writing, reading, listening, speaking and vocabulary. Classes include: Academic Fluency- Intermediate, Academic Skills Advancement
Support Level 3: IELTS 4.0-4.5, TOEFL IBT 39-58, SLATE 3.0-4.4. This level of support provides low intermediate students the opportunity to advance their fluency in all areas of Academic English: listening, speaking, reading and writing in classes that are contextualized to their Saint John's classes. Classes include: Academic Fluency- Low Intermediate, Academic Skills Advancement, Culture and Context
Saint John's offers student support from Saint John's teachers but for those students having difficulty in a particular subject may be matched with a peer tutor. Peer tutors are typically members of the Saint John's National Honor Society and make themselves available after school Monday-Thursday and during lunch and free periods.
At Saint John's at the start of school, each international student will receive between 25-50 points (semester of full year). These points are used toward activities of interest and allows students to chose from a wide variety of excursions without concern of planning or expenditures.
Some examples: Saint John's Ski Trip 12 points, Six Flags (rollercoaster park) 10 points, Surfing Lesson 8 points, NY Mets Game 5 points, Bowling 3 points, Ice Skating 2 points.

Saint John's provides the homestay for IACE international students. Although Saint John's homestay will support the students academically and personally, IACE international students are required to have a SKYPE once per month with Ms Sandra President/CEO.
