Crean Lutheran High School (also known as CLHS) is located in the City of Irvine and has an enrollment of 760 students, making it the fifth largest private high school in Orange County. Crean Lutheran High School has been named one of the Most Challenging Private High Schools in America by the Washington Post in its recently released rankings for 2015. Crean Lutheran has established a relationship with colleges that promotes academic growth and increased rigor. College professors teach their college level classes on the CLHS campus and students receive both high school and college credit. CLHS classrooms have 21st century technology with all students receiving a laptop (included in the cost of tuition) for online research to group collaboration, students use their laptops daily. CLHS encourages students to utilize available eBooks and digital textbooks and also employs Moodle as a powerful course management system. Through Moodle, students can submit homework, download class content, take quizzes, communicate with teachers, and monitor their grades.
CLHS’ International Admissions Department’s overall goal is to provide support, encouragement, and guidance to all of its international students so they have an optimal learning experience, achieve their lofty goals, and enrich the overall CLHS community. CLHS has free on campus Princeton Review SAT/ACT Test preparation classes. During the specialized 18 hour curriculum, students become familiar with test content and acquire the tools they need to score well.
International students at CLHS are well-rounded in their education. They are mainstreamed into regular college preparatory courses. They can also choose from a wide range of opportunities of curricular and extra-curricular activities such as: athletics, drama, choir, orchestra, fine arts, AP courses (Advanced Placement), honors courses, and even UC and Cal State approved college-level courses taught on CLHS’ campus by nearby college professors.
